The promise: you never lose your photos
The most common complaint about photo vaults is lost photos: after an update, an uninstall, a new phone or a failed sync. ColdGallery is built around not letting that happen.
- Backup from the first photo. An encrypted copy goes to a folder on your phone that survives uninstalling the app. It's on from the start.
- Off the phone too, if you want. Connect your own Google Drive and backups go there as well, encrypted on your phone before they leave it.
- 12 words bring everything back. Your recovery phrase restores your vault on a new phone and resets a forgotten PIN.
- It tells you when something is wrong. You can see when the last backup worked, and you're warned if backups stop.

If you go over the free limit, nothing is locked away: you can still open, export and back up everything you already have.
What ColdGallery can't do
- If you lose both your PIN and your 12-word recovery phrase, nobody can open your vault. Not even us. There is no back door.
- The second vault and the calculator hold up against someone looking through your phone, not against forensic tools.
- With the disguise on, Android still shows the real app name in a few system places, such as Settings → Apps.
Questions
Where are my photos stored?
On your phone, encrypted, inside ColdGallery's private storage. Encrypted backups go to a plainly named folder on your phone and, if you connect it, to a hidden app folder in your own Google Drive.
What if I get a new phone?
Install ColdGallery, choose to restore, and enter your 12 words. It finds your backup on the phone or in your Drive and brings back every item, album, date and order.
What if I forget my PIN?
Your 12-word recovery phrase lets you choose a new PIN. Keep the words somewhere safe and away from your phone.
